New York Vein Treatment Services

In the past, New York medical facilities such as USA Vein Clinics had only one reliable technique to get rid of veins: a vein surgery procedure called ligation & stripping. Occasionally, this procedure is still determined to be appropriate, but there are many newer and less invasive treatments now available that are just as effective for getting rid of varicose veins.

Duplex ultrasound

Most treatment plans begin with a diagnostic procedure called duplex ultrasound. This painless and non-invasive procedure provides images of veins not visible by the eye, allowing your surgeon to map out a treatment strategy based on the size, path and blood flow of affected veins.

Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT)

Before and after EVLT Procedure
EVLT is a relatively new and extremely well-regarded treatment for New York patients with varicose veins. EVLT begins with the administration of a local anesthetic. Then your surgeon will direct laser energy through a thin laser fiber to the affected vein. The laser energy results in the collapse of the vein, which is soon reabsorbed by the body while blood flow is automatically redirected to healthier veins. The procedure generally takes less than two hours, and patients return to normal activity levels within a few days.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Ambulatory Phlebectomy is often recommended for New York vein patients whose varicose veins are large and close to the surface of the skin. In this procedure, a local anesthesia is administered and then the surgeon makes an incision of about 1 mm in the skin through which diseased veins can be extracted. Patients generally wear compression bandages for two weeks following the procedure to facilitate healing.

Sclerotherapy

Spider veins are most often treated with Sclerotherapy, a procedure in which a tiny needle is inserted into the skin. A chemical “sclerosing” agent is then injected through the needle into the problem vein, causing the vein to shut down and eventually be reabsorbed by the body. Meanwhile, blood flow is automatically directed to healthy veins.
